Commercial outdoor lights have been around for nearly 30 years. Different light sources (engines/technologies) have been used through the years before LED’s came available such as:
- High-intensity discharge lamps (HID)
- Cold cathode fluorescent (CCFL)
- Compact fluorescent (CFL)
- Etc
Early LED versions delivered approximately 65 lumens per watt. LED technology has greatly improved since then making them the most popular light engine in the solar lighting industry. Our light fixtures are commercial/industrial-grade designed to last longer and use Cree XPG LED chips (modules), which offer an excellent light output with an efficacy of above 130 lumens per watt.
